Dr. David Clark is a dental instructor in the Department of Oral Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto and was director of dental services at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in Whitby from 1988- 2017. He is also a part-time clinical instructor in the dental hygiene programs at Durham and George Brown colleges. His hospital-based practice has been devoted primarily to the general dental care of individuals undergoing primary care for various forms of psychiatric illness often co-existing with other medically compromising conditions. Dr. Clark obtained his MSc in oral pathology at the University of Western Ontario in 1986 and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and Academy of Dentistry International. He received the Award of Distinction from the Academy of Dentistry International in 2015 for his dedication and contributions to the field of continuing dental education, and the ODA Award of Merit in 2016. A national and international lecturer, his subjects include psychiatric illness and its impact on dental management, oral care and the geriatric patient, and clinical oral pathology.
